Temper Mill

Norfolk Iron and Metal operates a Temper Mill cold reduction line in Rock Island, Illinois. Temper passing is the process by which steel is put through twenty-ton work rolls under very high pressure. Temper Mill capability will be increased with a new line capable of leveling 3/4" plate 96" wide and up to 60' long. Please check back for updates on our expansion project.

Cuts steel up to ½-inch with widths from 22- to 72-inches and lengths from 2- to 50-feet.	Relieves residual stress. Elongates the steel. Decreases thickness 1.5 to 2 percent.
